TOP PRIORITIES

  • A flexible community meeting place

  • Fitness, gym, yoga and indoor sports
  • Activities for older residents
  • Affordable social events, clubs and celebrations

"This is essential for our community."

"Desperate for things to do in Dunbeg for the winter!"

"I think having something like this strengthens community and builds bonds."

WHAT IS MISSING NOW

  • No dedicated community hub or village hall

"I feel the community, as it grows, requires something to draw it together."

"We are the only place with no village hall or meeting place available to residents."

"Dunbeg deserves a community centre."

From your ideas to a community hub

What could the hub offer?

Residents asked for a multi-purpose building that can adapt to different ages, interests, and needs. Some of the early ideas include:

MEET

Community groups, coffee mornings, clubs and social events

MOVE

Fitness classes, indoor sport, yoga and accessible activities

GROW

Youth activities, after-school clubs, family and baby groups

LEARN

Training, digital support, employability and creative activities

SUPPORT

Health, wellbeing, welfare rights and visiting advice services

CONNECT

Community cafe, celebrations, markets and space to volunteer

What happens next?

1. Form a steering group

Bring residents and partners together.

2. Shape the brief

Agree priorities, governance and the preferred site.

3. Test the options

Develop designs, costs and a sustainable operating plan.

4. Build the case

Engage funders and prepare capital applications.

Help take the next step

Would you like to join a new community steering group?

You do not need previous committee experience. We are looking for tenants and residents of different ages, backgrounds, and interests who can share ideas, represent their neighbours and help shape a hub that works for everyone.

This is an early-stage proposal. The steering group will help shape the project, and future progress will depend on feasibility, partnership and funding work.
